Description

Over 100 dedicated teaching and support staff are employed by Nelson College and work together in a collegial and supportive environment reflective of the values of the school. We are looking for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Laboratory Technician/Manger to join our office science faculty.
The candidate will have the following essential attributes:
- Qualification in Science, preferably at tertiary level
- Preferably Experience as a Laboratory Manager;
- Excellent people skills, with students and staff
- Accuracy, adaptability, and the relevant experience of working as part of a team, within a busy environment
- Critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective systems
- Confidence in working autonomously and/or within a team environment
Tasks & responsibilities include:
- Preparing and sometimes assisting with experiments and class practical’s;
- Tidy Laboratories;
- Ensure hazardous substances are stored, handled, used, and disposed of appropriately
- Ensure that information on hazardous substances is available e.g., safety data sheets, risk assessments
- Represent the Science Faculty on the Health and Safety Committee
- Order, maintain and repair equipment.
