Classroom Teacher – Prep School
Nelson College Preparatory is an independent school offering education for Year 7/8 boys. The successful candidate will be NZ registered and able to demonstrate the ability to effectively, inspire and improve learning outcomes for tamariki whilst understanding and supporting the special nature of our school. Having the ability to create the best possible learning environment, be culturally responsive with excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with whānau, ākonga, and staff are essential.
We require someone with strong knowledge of inquiry, expert classroom practices, and a willingness to continue to learn collaboratively with colleagues.

Learning Support Coordinator (LSC)
Nelson College is seeking a Learning Support Coordinator. This is a permanent full-time role.
The purpose of the learning support coordinator role is to help children with diverse learning needs to access the support and services they need, in ways that recognise their identity, language, and culture. The learning support coordinator will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including staff, students, whānau, teacher aides and external agencies. The successful applicant should be knowledgeable about and committed to inclusive practices and have demonstrated the ability to support the learning and progress of all learners as they transition in, through, and out of schools.
To be considered for the role, the successful applicant must meet all the criteria of the LSC role description. Key role functions are:
- Support students through building an inclusive school or kura and cluster environment which encourages participation, progress and successful transitions
- Support kaiako/teachers in schools and kura to lift their capability to better meet the needs of learners, and to strengthen their connections with early learning services
- Support parents and whānau to build better relationships of understanding around learning support and establishing points of contact if needed
- Work alongside other LSCs across the cluster and connect with the learning support facilitator and wider agencies e.g. Oranga Tamariki, to access services and resources to support learners
- Work with school or kura leadership team to influence and encourage them about ensuring the needs of all students receive the appropriate support to enhance their learning and progress.
