Careers Guidance

The Careers Hub consists of the Gateway/Trades Academy office and the Careers office.  These  are in A Block, opposite the Student Office.

All Nelson College students are offered Careers Guidance in planning their education and future direction under Nelson College’s Career Education Plan which provides Career Education across all levels of the school curriculum.

The Careers Hub also provides a range of course information from various universities and tertiary providers, as well as connecting students with Industry Training Organisations (regarding apprenticeship training). We also organise, host and connect students with a range of career events held each year.  These are well advertised via the student daily notices and, in some instances emailed out to parents and students.

Our Careers Advisor is an expert in assisting students with the university enrolment processes, scholarships applications and applying for tertiary accommodation. We have a high acceptance rate due to both the calibre of our students and the detailed support provided by our Careers Advisor.

Students and/or parents who wish to have a 1:1 session are encouraged to make an appointment with our Careers Advisor as and when required.

Our goal is for all of our students to leave Nelson College armed with the skills they need to find their place in the world,and to navigate the ever changing working landscape.
