At Nelson College we support students to attend secondary school events for Mountain Biking.
Each year we attend the Tasman Secondary School Champs, South Island Secondary School Champs and National Secondary School Champs. These all feature Enduro, Downhill and Cross-Country races. Costs vary depending on the location of events and whether students join in with the school accommodation or stay independently with family.
There are school jerseys available for sale or loan to represent the college at these events. Parent volunteers are very helpful for out-of-town events.
In year 10 we offer the MTB academy option for students who want to choose a class focused on their favourite sport. We complete assignments related to mountain biking knowledge, learn basic mechanical skills and get out on the trails for coaching with Gravity Nelson.
