Welcome to Nelson College Preparatory School. Set within the grounds of Nelson College, we’re the only New Zealand independent boys school attached to a state secondary school.
With the support of highly qualified and dedicated teachers, as well as specialist college teachers, our ākonga (students) enjoy access to a wide range of teaching and co-curricular facilities at the College. This blend allows the students to study in a classroom environment with other boys who are equally motivated to achieve.
Programmes are tailored to the specific needs of boys and we will ensure that your son is given the opportunity to strive for academic achievement to the best of his ability. We’re able to arrange extra learning support to meet your son’s unique learning abilities and differences.
The Preparatory School operates a Leadership Progremme which offers many opportunities for our school leaders.
We’re proud to provide each student with an excellent education in a supportive learning environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation and excellence in learning. The school enjoys recognition for its academic performance and its sporting and cultural achievements. Our goal is to prepare the boys for college life and to allow them to “take their place in the world”.
