Join us for an insightful and engaging Open Day at Nelson College, designed exclusively for prospective boarding students and their families. This is your opportunity to explore the heart of our boarding community, meet our dedicated staff, and get a first-hand experience of what it means to be a part of Nelson College.
10:00 AM – Morning tea and welcome. You’ll be warmly welcomed by our Principal, Richard Washington, who will give an overview of what Nelson College has to offer, and current boarders for a student’s perspective on life at NC.
Hear from our Year 12 Dean, Richard Townsend, and discover the vast range of co-curricular activities that enrich our students’ lives.
A Parent’s Perspective: Gain valuable insights into the Nelson College Boarding journey from a current parent, sharing their personal experiences and the impact on their family.
Boarding Life Unveiled: Simon Mardon, our Director of Boarding, will take you through the day-to-day life in our boarding houses, highlighting the support and camaraderie that define our boarding community.
10.45 – School Tour: Embark on a guided tour of the school, to see our facilities and learn more about our academic and extracurricular offerings.
11:15 – Interval! Let your son experience the hustle and bustle of Nelson College as classrooms burst their banks and boys make a bee-line for the tuck shop, the sports fields and all corners of the campus.
11.45 – House Tours: Explore Barnicoat and Rutherford Houses and gain a closer look at the living spaces, amenities, and unique character of each house.
